Dr. Michael J. Economides

Dr. Michael J. Economides, USA, Professor of Chemical and Bio-molecular Engineering at Cullen College of Engineering at University of Houston and the author of numerous books and more than 50 scientific studies, member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.

“After a desperate literature search over four years, involving as many as 30 engineering and science graduate students, we have yet to come up with one professional paper that shows a quantitative causality between increased carbon dioxide and enhanced global temperature.”

Dr Economides claim that he and his team of students failed to find one peer reviewed paper that proved AGW is a mystery, it perhaps comes down to the term proof. As the IPCC states the proof is ‘very likely’ that is somewhere between 90-99% proof, not absolute but the problem is finding an alternative to the increased global temperatures of the 20th/21st century. The same statement could be turned on its head in that no peer-reviewed proves CO2 is not the cause of AGW. The IPCC statement of ‘very likely’ when reversed makes climate change by natural causes only 1-9% that is ‘very unlikely’.

    • Distinguished Member, Society of Petroleum Engineers, 1994
    • Outstanding Faculty Award, 1984 (University of Alaska, School of Mineral Industry)

Research Interests [according to his bio on the University of Houston web page]

Dr. Michael Economides’ research efforts involve the optimization of the overall hydrocarbon production system from the reservoir, the wellbore and to the market. He has done major contributions on reservoir stimulation theory, advanced reservoir exploitation strategies and complex well architecture design features. He is currently conducting industry efforts for driving deep offshore technology development, world energy scenario forecast and natural gas development. Next generation technology of oil and gas industry involves the development of advanced computer-aided tools.

About Me- [from his Forbes bio] Michael J. Economides, Editor-in-Chief of Energy Tribune, is among America’s leading energy analysts. A consultant, educator, and PhD petroleum engineer, Economides has done technical and managerial work in more than 70 countries and is a professor at the Cullen College of Engineering, at the University of Houston. In addition to authoring numerous academic articles and textbooks, he is also the co-author of “The Color of Oil: The History, the Money and the Politics of the World’s Biggest Business, From Soviet to Putin and Back,” and his latest book, “Energy: China’s Choke Point.” He appears regularly on national TV and radio programs.

Evidently he is pushing himself with blogs and articles and a ‘voice’ of modern America, however he is a petro-chemical engineer whose papers are entirely restricted to research into getting oil out of the ground with no knowledge of climate science and entrenched in the oil industry.
